Fotntan at the Postal Square

River Station
One of the oldest areas of Kyiv. Archaeological research has found that commercial settlements were there in the IV century. During the Kyivan Rus, probably at it housed one of 8 Kiev Targovishte mentioned in the chronicles. Under the present name is known from the 1st half of the XVIII century (although the postal station at the Postal Square was built in 1846). In the XIX century there was also a parallel name - Square Christmas, placed on it from the Nativity Church (built in 1810-1814, destroyed in the 30-ies of XX century). Built in 1900 near Chapel Society rescue on the water.
