Territory Baykova Mountain is the only place in Kyiv, where they bury the famous and prominent residents of the Ukraine. Also here it is the only one in Kyiv crematorium, which was designed by Miletsky Abraham , Ada Rybachuk and Vladimir Melnichenko.
The area, as well as the cemetery itself, were named for General Sergei Baikov names (involved in the Napoleonic and Russian-Turkish wars), who, after retirement he moved to live in Kyiv. In Pechersk he bought a house, and for a country holiday bought the little farm the river Lybid. In 1831, on the part of the farm land flannelette cemetery it was founded. Was this initiative Baykova or he rented / sold this part of its territory of the city - a hitherto unknown. Until 1834 there operated a restriction on confessional of buried dead - the cemetery was divided into Catholic and Lutheran zone. Orthodox were allowed to be buried here only since mid 1834.
